because the LORD has anointed Me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives
and freedom to the prisoners,a
2to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favorb
and the day of our God’s vengeance,
to comfort all who mourn,
3to console the mourners in Zion—
to give them a crown of beauty for ashes,
the oil of joy for mourning,
and a garment of praise for a spirit of despair.
So they will be called oaks of righteousness,
the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.
in loving devotion a throne will be established in the tent of David. A judge seeking justice and prompt in righteousness will sit on it in faithfulness.
I will place on his shoulder the key of the house of David. What he opens, no one can shut; what he shuts, no one can open.
The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You.
O LORD, You will establish peace for us, for indeed, all that we have accomplished, you have done for us.
This also comes from the LORD of Hosts, who is wonderful in counsel and excellent wisdom.
In the days of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, and this kingdom will not be left to another people. It will shatter all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, but will itself stand forever.
Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, until the Messiah, the Prince, there will be Seven Weeks and Sixty-Two Weeks. It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of distress.
The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former, says the LORD of Hosts. And in this place I will provide peace, declares the LORD of Hosts.
